"You'll never know how strong you are until you need to be"

Joost van der Westhuizen

As one of the key contributors to the local economy, the agricultural industry of South Africa is going through a continuous, important but yet lengthy process of transformation. And consequently, it is from this transformation process that the term Developing Agriculture comes into being.

As a somewhat self-explanatory term, Developing Agriculture is one of the core components of the entire agricultural field which exists with a primary objective of evolving the industry through a process that allows radical change to occur without losing its current achievements. In more simple terms, this component revolves around equipping developing farmers (particularly those from previously disadvantaged groups) with all the necessary resources, competence and support in order for them to become independent commercial farmers. It should be clear from the connotations gathered above that Developing Agriculture and transformation coexist respectively as a developmental incubator together with its objective.

It’s quite obvious that whatever goes through radical change should have its own tools of progress measurement in place. Of course there are a number of methods or indicators that could be used to determine the progress made in uplifting developing farmers; and documenting some of the most important current affairs is surely one of them. By so doing, the very same documented articles can be revisited in future to assess whether issues that were trending back then should be declared as matters of the past or as continuously existent challenges. Thus aiding in distinguishing the difference between the improvements made, from matters that still need attention. In essence, this implies that documenting all current affairs in an explicit but factual manner is one of the vital tools of measuring progress; which is ultimately the basis on which this website was created.

MSNtuli.co.za has been created mainly to serve as a platform that will publish critical socioeconomic issues that affect or hinder the progress of transformation in South African agriculture. Though positive achievements that deserve or need to be given such attention will also be covered, it’s important to understand that the drawbacks will be given priority since the weakest link of a chain is the most important one.

As a way to encourage the sharing of varying ideas, experiences and views on this subject, this site welcomes articles written by other keen authors who wish to have their views shared with the public. (Refer these through the contacts page).

Visit this website monthly or bi-monthly to get informed on some of the trending issues that need to be addressed under the scope of South African Developing Agriculture.
